Thor: The Dark World

Sexy man Thor is back for a third time.  This time he is battling Dark Elves who are trying to engulf the world into darkness.  He is reunited with Jane Foster and her gang under unfortunate circumstances when she accidentally becomes the host for the powerful weapon the Aether.  Thor must protect Asgard and Jane from Malekith  the leader of the Dark Elves, but at what costs?

Although I have a huge bias for Thor, I have to admit Loki steals the show in this movie.  His playful and snarky humor begs for more scenes next to the God of Thunder.  He is a complex character that seems to be teetering between good and evil at all times.

Besides the humor, drama, and cast, the movie looks great.  The graphics were well done, Asgard and the other realms look as believable as they can be for a super hero flick.  Let’s not forget all the action sequences and fighting that happens.

Overall the movie is very entertaining.  This movie definitely gets a “go see it!” recommendation.  It has everything you may want in a super hero movie.  Hunky super heroes, cool villains, action, drama, romance and humor.  Do you need anything else?  Go see it!

Movie Review: The Dark Knight Rises

The Dark Knight Rises: I don’t even think this movie even needs a review. I thought it was THAT good. It was a great end to the Batman trilogy directed by Christopher Nolan. The movie was not only a good comic book movie, but I believe it was a good movie overall.
Almost 3 hours long, the movie was suspenseful for it’s entirety. The usual bass filled score kept that feeling going throughout the film. I was fortunate to watch the movie in an Imax theater and was able to feel the full awe of some of the wide landscape and aerial shots.
The actors did a great job. Not only a cutie, but the role of Blake, played by Joseph Gordon-Levitt was well written into the plot and kept the story line moving. This was a great casting choice.
Although it may get some getting used to, Anne Hathaway played a pretty good Cat Woman. She was feisty but still had that tiny bit of good to her that Batman always saw in her.
I was especially impressed with Tom Hardy and Bane’s dialogue. It was intelligent and villainous as it should be.
The inclusion of little comic book tidbits and background stories satisfied the nerdy part of me enough to really enjoy the movie. Of course there will be fan boys to disagree with me. But my opinion will not sway. It’s a great film.
Unfortunately, the movie will be forever stained with the shooting in Colorado. Of course my deepest condolences go out to the families and loved ones of the victims. It was a very horrible event, especially when it happened at an innocent event such as a movie screening of Batman. I was glad Christian Bale went out to visit the victims at the hospital. It was definitely something positive to do.
I hope this event does not deter people from going to see the movie, or going to the movies in general. I went that Friday night and everyone had to have their bags checked.  It’s not a big deal for me to have my bag checked, although I honestly don’t think that does any good.  Maybe it will give peace of mind to others.  Either way, going to the movies is still one of my favorite things to do and hope you will enjoy as well. Now go watch the movie!

Long Time No Blog….Supercon!

Hello fellow followers…all 7 of you 😉

Anyways, I have been neglecting my blogger duties lately.  Been out and about and just plain watching and reading a lot of nonsense online.

One of the few things I have been up to in the real world is attending Supercon!  I got to see lots of awesome cosplay by some of the attendees, went to some panels, and of course spent money at the vendors.

If you ever get a chance to attend Supercon next year, I would highly recommend you do!  Take advantage of the panels that include discussions with comic artists and other topics.  I also wanted to mention the “Pineapple-Shaped Lamps Sketch Comedy Show”.  It was a pretty funny group of actors that performed a few comedy skits related to everything nerdy.  The hour long show was pretty entertaining.  Hope they come back next year with new stuff.

Check out some pics from the con.  Of course my phone was about to die, so I only was able to take a few pics.  Enjoy!

Posters being sold by a vendor at the con.  Hey look it’s Game of Thrones 🙂
This has to be one of the best cosplay outfits I have seen.
This Hulk comic and a few others were being sold for about $3-$4,000!
Awesome Storm cosplay!
Another hot X-men character, Mystique.
Just some of the awesome craftwork by some of the vendors, a Sailormoon handmade card.
For you Brony’s out there…

Movie Review: The Avengers

I was lucky enough to get tickets to a pre-screening of the Avengers this week.  The showing was at 6:30pm only a few hours before the Midnight release, but hey I was still lucky.  It was crazy to see people camping out already at 6pm for the midnight showing.  But I can understand since the movie was  great!
It takes all the recent Marvel movies, their characters, and teams everyone up to fight against Loki, Thor’s brother.  The movie combines action, comedy, a pretty well thought out plot and cool characters.
The biggest surprise to me was Hulk.  Although I love super hot Thor, Hulk stole the show here.  I had my doubts about Mark Ruffalo playing Bruce Banner, after seeing Edward Norton do such a great job.  However, it worked out pretty well.
Another character that shined in this movie was the Black Widow played byScarlett Johansson . I love it when Hollywood finally makes a lead girl character into someone that is smart, pretty and just plain bad ass.
Anyways, I greatly enjoyed this movie and believe people from any age group will enjoy it.  Plus I like the free stuff I got as well from the screening 🙂
